What is Affordable Housing?

Affordable housing is a term used to describe dwelling units whose rental costs are deemed "affordable" to a group of low to moderate income households within a specific income range for their household size. You must have sufficient income to afford the rent. In certain circumstances, rents are based on 30% of adjusted monthly income. Income limits will apply.

What is Subsidized Housing?

Subsidized housing is a term used to describe dwelling units whose rental costs are deemed "low income" or "subsidized" to a group of very-low or extremely-low income households within a specific income range for their household size. The rent is based on 30% of the adjusted household income for their family size, less a utility allowance. Household gross income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI) limit to qualify.
